India has ended a 24-year wait for an Asian Games golf gold.

Pranavi Urs won the women’s individual title on October 3 at 15-under 265.

The previous Indian gold was Shiv Kapur’s men’s individual title at Busan 2002.

Urs won by one stroke over Singapore’s Shannon Xuan Yin Tan and China’s Yin Ruoning.

India also won women’s team silver.

A triple bogey on the par-four third hole wiped out that lead.

She recovered with a birdie on the sixth hole and signed for an even-par 70 in the final round.

She is the first Indian woman to win an Asian Games gold medal in golf.

The win ends a 24-year wait for an Asian Games golf gold for India. The previous Indian gold was Shiv Kapur’s men’s individual title at Busan 2002.

India also won silver in the women’s team event, with Urs, Aditi Ashok and Diksha Dagar finishing second behind China.

The course is a par 70, so four rounds add up to a par of 280, which makes a total of 265 equal to 15 under par.

The Asian Games golf competition has individual and team events, played over four rounds.

Aditi Ashok finished fourth in women’s golf at the Tokyo 2020 Olympics, one of the best Olympic results by an Indian golfer.

The Asian Games 2026 are being held in Aichi-Nagoya, Japan, from September 19 to October 4.

A triple bogey is a score of three shots over par on a single hole, and a birdie is a score of one shot under par.

Golf has been part of the Asian Games programme since the 1982 Games in New Delhi.

October 3 was Day 14 of the Asian Games 2026.

India’s golf medals at the Games now include the individual gold and the women’s team silver.

Urs’s final-round 70 was even par for the course, and her first three rounds had built the three-shot lead she took into the last day.

Sehrawat is a Paris 2024 Olympic bronze medallist in 57kg freestyle.

He also won bronze at the 2023 Asian Games in Hangzhou.

In the quarterfinals he beat Kazakhstan’s Nurdanat Aitanov 12-1.

In the semifinals he recovered from 2-6 down to beat Tajikistan’s Aiaal Belolyubskii 14-8.

Freestyle wrestling bouts are won by scoring technical points, and a bout can also end early if one wrestler leads by a large margin.

The 57kg category is one of the lighter freestyle weight classes, and it was also Sehrawat’s weight at the Paris Olympics.

Sehrawat came back from 2-6 down in the semifinal, which meant he had already won one bout from behind before the final.

The final score of 11-7 meant the two wrestlers scored 18 points between them.

India beat Pakistan by 19 runs in the Asian Games 2026 men’s T20 final.

India scored 211 for 6 and Pakistan 192 for 6.

Abhishek Sharma made 61 and Tilak Varma 51 not out.

Hasan Nawaz made 96 off 51 balls for Pakistan.

Sri Lanka won bronze.

Pakistan were held to 192 for 6 in their 20 overs.

Hasan Nawaz scored 96 off 51 balls for Pakistan, with seven sixes and five fours, but could not take his side home.

The result gives India a second successive gold in men’s cricket at the Asian Games.

It was India’s seventh consecutive T20 win over Pakistan, according to Al Jazeera.

The captains did not shake hands before the match, and the players did not shake hands afterwards either.

It was the fifth consecutive men’s match between the two teams in which players declined handshakes.

The medal ceremony was significantly delayed, and no official reason was given for the delay.

ICC chairman Jay Shah presented medals to the Indian players, while Pakistan and bronze medallists Sri Lanka received theirs from Asian Games officials.

The Asian Games 2026 are being held in Aichi-Nagoya, Japan, from September 19 to October 4.

The cricket competition at the Games is played in the T20 format, with each side batting for a maximum of 20 overs.

To win the match Pakistan needed to chase 212 runs, which meant scoring at more than ten runs an over.

A T20 total of 211 is a high score for a final, and it required Pakistan to attack from the start.

Sri Lanka took the bronze medal in the men’s event, according to Al Jazeera’s report.

Cricket was played at the Asian Games in 2010 and 2014, was left out in 2018, and returned at the 2023 Games in Hangzhou, where India won the men’s title.

The women’s individual recurve final at the Asian Games 2026 was tied 5-5 after five sets.

A single-arrow shoot-off decided it.

Mohod is 17 and is the first Indian woman to win individual recurve gold at the Games.

Mohod is the first Indian woman to win individual recurve gold at the Asian Games.

It was her third medal of the Games.

She had already won gold in the women’s recurve team event with Ankita Bhakat and Kirti Sharma, who beat South Korea 5-3 in the final.

That team gold was India’s first in the women’s recurve team event at the Asian Games.

Mohod also won silver in the mixed team event, partnering Dhiraj Bommadevara, on Friday, October 2.

In the men’s individual recurve event, Neeraj Chauhan won bronze by beating fellow Indian Dhiraj Bommadevara 6-4 in an all-Indian bronze medal match.

President Droupadi Murmu and the Sports Minister congratulated Mohod, according to reports, and Prime Minister Narendra Modi hailed the archers’ recurve medals.

Recurve is the style of bow used in Olympic archery, and recurve matches are shot at a target 70 metres away.

Recurve matches are scored in sets: a set win earns 2 points and a tie earns 1, and the first archer to reach 6 points wins.

If a match is level at 5-5, a one-arrow shoot-off decides it, and a perfect arrow scores 10 points.

Dhiraj Bommadevara finished fourth in the men’s individual recurve event after losing the bronze medal match 6-4 to Neeraj Chauhan.
