A gym trainer was shot dead in Delhi’s Aya Nagar area on Monday, with a gang claiming the killing on social media.

The victim, 28-year-old Vijay Kumar, was allegedly lured outside before being shot near Hansa Chowk in Fatehpur Beri, with around 12 to 15 rounds fired.

Police are verifying a social media post attributed to gangster Himanshu Bhau, believed to be based abroad, claiming responsibility.

Investigators are also examining whether the shooting is connected to a long-running rivalry between families in the area.

The same gang was previously linked to the killing of a 55-year-old dairy businessman in the locality, a case that led to four arrests earlier this year.

Forensic teams collected shell casings and other evidence from the scene as part of the ongoing investigation into the shooting.

Local residents in the area have expressed concern over a pattern of gang-related violence linked to long-standing local rivalries in Aya Nagar and neighbouring localities.

Delhi Police have increased patrolling in the area following the incident, according to officials familiar with the investigation.

The use of social media to claim responsibility for targeted killings has become a recurring feature of gang-related violence investigated by Delhi Police in recent years.

Police have not yet made any arrests in connection with Monday’s shooting as the investigation continues.

Authorities said CCTV footage from the area is being reviewed to help identify and track the motorcycle-borne assailants.

A Delhi court has denied anticipatory bail to Shubham Tyagi, the PG operator accused in the Satya Niketan building collapse case, over an undisclosed rent agreement.

The Patiala House Courts dismissed the plea, citing evidence including the statement of an injured student from the September 6 collapse that killed seven people.

The court found Tyagi’s rent agreement, not revealed in his bail application, showed he had taken the second and third floors specifically to operate a boys’ PG.

Judge Saurabh Pratap Singh Laler said the circumstances required further investigation into Tyagi’s knowledge, consent and financial role.

Five people have been arrested so far in the case, as the Supreme Court separately reviews a plea for a nationwide safety audit of PG accommodations.

Tyagi is reported to have told the court that the construction responsible for the collapse was not within the portion of the building he had rented.

No deaths have been reported after a metal slab collapse at a Gandhinagar construction site, with all 15 trapped workers rescued.

The incident occurred at the Bosky The Empire construction site in Kudasan on Wednesday night, during slab-casting between two existing structures.

Twelve of the rescued workers were hospitalised and remain stable, while three others suffered minor injuries and were discharged.

Preliminary reports suggest a crane may have struck the ceiling during construction work, triggering the collapse.

Teams from the Municipal Corporation, police, SDRF and NDRF worked overnight with heavy cranes and cutting equipment to clear the debris.

Three of the rescued workers who did not suffer major injuries were discharged after treatment, while the remaining 12 were kept under observation.

The debris-clearing operation continued through the night to ensure no workers remained trapped beneath the collapsed slab.

Gujarat authorities are expected to investigate whether safety protocols were followed at the construction site prior to the collapse.

The incident adds to a string of recent construction-related accidents reported across Indian cities this year, prompting renewed scrutiny of site safety standards.

Officials confirmed that all 15 workers involved in the incident have been accounted for, with none reported missing as of the latest update.

The Kudasan area of Gandhinagar has seen rapid commercial construction activity in recent years as the city has expanded its business and retail footprint.

State authorities said a detailed structural assessment of the remaining portions of the Bosky The Empire site would be carried out before construction work resumes.

Labour rights groups have periodically called for stricter enforcement of on-site safety supervision at construction projects involving simultaneous heavy-machinery operation and manual work.
