After the celebrations at his brother’s residence, Salman Khan reportedly made an appearance at the Ambani family’s Ganpati festivities at Antilia in Mumbai.

Ganesh Chaturthi celebrations in Mumbai typically draw large gatherings at both private residences and public pandals across the city.

Bollywood celebrities visiting each other’s Ganpati celebrations during the festival has become an annual tradition, often generating significant media and fan attention.

The festival, which honours the elephant-headed deity Ganesha, is one of the most widely celebrated events in Maharashtra and across much of India.

Photos and videos from celebrity Ganpati visits are typically shared widely on social media by both fans and professional photographers present at the events.

The Ganesh Chaturthi festival period culminates in visarjan, the ceremonial immersion of Ganesha idols, usually observed with processions in cities across India.

Salman sported a blue striped shirt with light blue jeans and a white scarf worn over his head, which drew attention from fans and photographers at the event.

The head covering was seen by some as a way of concealing his look ahead of an upcoming film project.

Chumbak, a new family comedy led by Neena Gupta, premieres on Netflix today, September 10.

The series is created by Aatish Kapadia and JD Majethia, known for Sarabhai vs Sarabhai and Khichdi, and also stars Sumeet Vyas, Deven Bhojani and Arjun Bijlani.

Gupta and Bhojani play Rajni and Kuku Merchant, a couple whose bickering masks a deep, lasting bond, while Vyas plays Aditya Khanna.

The show follows a multi-generational ensemble of neighbours through the chaos and warmth of everyday Indian community life.

Chumbak’s premiere adds to a busy week of Indian OTT releases, with The Revolutionaries and Ghamasaan also arriving on rival platforms.

The show’s creators, Aatish Kapadia and JD Majethia, have a long history of producing multi-generational family sitcoms for Indian television and streaming audiences.

Chumbak’s trailer has drawn attention for its ensemble comic chemistry, positioning the show as a spiritual successor to its creators’ earlier sitcom hits.

Netflix has increasingly invested in India-originated family comedy series as part of its regional content strategy, alongside dramas and crime thrillers.

The series joins a crowded September slate of Indian OTT releases, with period drama The Revolutionaries and dacoit thriller Ghamasaan also premiering on rival platforms this week.

Neena Gupta has had a prolific run across film and streaming in recent years, appearing in a wide range of comedic and dramatic roles.

Chumbak comes from the creators of Sarabhai vs Sarabhai and Khichdi, two of Indian television’s best-known sitcom franchises, known for their ensemble comic timing.

Sumeet Vyas plays Aditya Khanna in the series, while Neena Gupta and Deven Bhojani play Rajni and Kuku Merchant, a couple whose constant bickering masks a deep bond.

The show is set in an Indian neighbourhood and follows the everyday chaos, quirks and warmth of its residents across multiple generations.

Arjun Bijlani also features in a lead role in the series, rounding out an ensemble cast built around family and neighbourhood comedy.

Mirzapur: The Movie collected Rs 25.15 crore net in India on its opening day, ranking as the fourth-biggest Hindi opener of 2026.

The film posted a theatrical occupancy of 42.81% on September 4, a strong result for its theatrical debut.

Trade analyst Taran Adarsh attributed the response to the Mirzapur franchise’s loyal fan base turning up in full strength.

Mirzapur trails Dhurandhar 2 (around Rs 99 crore), Toxic (around Rs 55 crore) and Border 2 (Rs 30 crore) among this year’s top openers.

The Janmashtami holiday and a weak second Friday for Toxic, at Rs 1.75 crore, both boosted Mirzapur’s opening-day numbers.

The film’s theatrical occupancy stood at 42.81% on opening day, a solid figure for a Hindi-language release competing in a crowded late-2026 slate.

Mirzapur: The Movie marks one of the more high-profile attempts to convert a hit streaming franchise into a full theatrical release, following the show’s three successful seasons on Amazon Prime Video.

The film stars the franchise’s original ensemble, including Pankaj Tripathi as Kaleen Bhaiya, Ali Fazal as Guddu Pandit and Divyenndu as Munna Bhaiya, alongside newer additions such as Ravi Kishan.

Analysts expect the film’s momentum to carry into the weekend, aided by the absence of major new theatrical competition in its release window.

The film released in both Hindi and Telugu on September 4, 2026, expanding its reach beyond the franchise’s traditional Hindi-speaking streaming audience.

The film’s opening places it fourth among 2026’s biggest openers, behind Dhurandhar 2 at roughly Rs 99 crore, Toxic at roughly Rs 55 crore and Border 2 at Rs 30 crore.

Trade analyst Taran Adarsh said the response reflected the strength of the Mirzapur franchise’s fan base, noting that loyal viewers had turned up in full strength for the theatrical debut.

The film also benefited from the Janmashtami holiday, which added to footfall on its opening day.

Mirzapur: The Movie has sold around 55,000 tickets in advance bookings across national chains as of September 2.

Trade estimates project the film’s opening day collection at Rs 21-26 crore, with a pinpoint prediction of Rs 24 crore net.

With one day left before release, advance sales in national chains are expected to close between 100,000 and 125,000 tickets.

The film brings back the original cast, including Pankaj Tripathi as Kaleen Bhaiya, Ali Fazal as Guddu Pandit and Divyenndu as Munna Bhaiya.

Mirzapur: The Movie is set to release in cinemas on September 4, 2026, directed by Gurmmeet Singh and produced by Excel Entertainment.

Trade analysts caution that advance booking figures are subjective estimates and analytical projections rather than certified collection numbers.

The film’s advance sales are being tracked closely across major national multiplex chains including PVR Inox and Cinepolis ahead of its theatrical debut.

The Mirzapur franchise has built one of the most loyal fan followings among Hindi-language web series since its 2018 debut, a factor trade watchers say is driving the strong advance interest.

Ticket sales for the film have grown steadily in the days leading up to release, climbing from roughly 20,000 tickets in early estimates to 55,000 as of September 2.

The film’s opening-day performance will be closely watched as an indicator of how well established streaming franchises can translate into theatrical box office success.

Trade estimates project the film could close its advance sales between 100,000 and 125,000 tickets in national chains with one day still remaining before release.

The film brings back the franchise’s original ensemble, including Kaleen Bhaiya (Pankaj Tripathi), Guddu Pandit (Ali Fazal), and Munna Bhaiya (Divyenndu), alongside new cast additions Ravi Kishan, Sonal Chauhan and Jitendra Kumar.

Mirzapur: The Movie is directed by Gurmmeet Singh and produced by Farhan Akhtar and Ritesh Sidhwani under the Excel Entertainment banner.
