Who is Santy Sharma? Rapper linked to Bigg Boss 20 amid YouTube channel removal row
Rapper Santy Sharma, rumoured to be entering Bigg Boss 20, has said his YouTube channel was permanently removed following controversial remarks he made about the Cockroach Janata Party.
Rapper Santy Sharma, whose real name is Ganesh Sharma, is among the names rumoured to be entering Bigg Boss 20, though neither the makers nor the rapper have officially confirmed his participation.
Sharma, widely recognised as an early hip-hop artist from Ratlam, Madhya Pradesh, began his YouTube journey in 2016 and built a large following through music and motivational content over the following decade.
He said his YouTube channel was permanently removed following remarks he made about the Cockroach Janata Party, a political trend that had gained attention online.
In an Instagram story, Sharma said the channel represented 11 years of work and creativity, and that its removal felt deeply personal, though he did not receive an official explanation from YouTube linking the takedown directly to his comments.
Sharma had described the CJP trend as “just internet drama” and raised questions about alleged foreign engagement with pages associated with it, as well as the past political associations of its founder, Abhijeet Dipke.
Bigg Boss 20 is expected to premiere on September 21 on Colors TV and JioHotstar, with the makers yet to release an official contestant list.
Sharma is widely regarded as one of the earliest hip-hop artists to emerge from Madhya Pradesh, having released tracks including Udaan, Koshish Meri, and his solo album Reborn over the course of his career.
He recently made his Bollywood debut with a role in Akshay Kumar’s film Housefull 5, marking an expansion beyond his independent music career.
Speculation around his participation in Bigg Boss 20 has placed him alongside several other rumoured names, including social media personality Uorfi Javed, as the show’s makers continue to build anticipation ahead of the season’s launch.
Sharma addressed the controversy directly with his followers through an Instagram story rather than issuing a separate press statement.
The Cockroach Janata Party trend that Sharma commented on had itself been circulating widely online in the weeks before his channel was taken down.

Mirzapur: The Movie collects Rs 25.15 crore on day 1
Mirzapur: The Movie collected Rs 25.15 crore net in India on its opening day, becoming the fourth-biggest Hindi opener of 2026 behind Dhurandhar 2, Toxic and Border 2.
Mirzapur: The Movie collected Rs 25.15 crore net in India on its opening day, ranking as the fourth-biggest Hindi opener of 2026.
The film posted a theatrical occupancy of 42.81% on September 4, a strong result for its theatrical debut.
Trade analyst Taran Adarsh attributed the response to the Mirzapur franchise’s loyal fan base turning up in full strength.
Mirzapur trails Dhurandhar 2 (around Rs 99 crore), Toxic (around Rs 55 crore) and Border 2 (Rs 30 crore) among this year’s top openers.
The Janmashtami holiday and a weak second Friday for Toxic, at Rs 1.75 crore, both boosted Mirzapur’s opening-day numbers.
The film’s theatrical occupancy stood at 42.81% on opening day, a solid figure for a Hindi-language release competing in a crowded late-2026 slate.
Mirzapur: The Movie marks one of the more high-profile attempts to convert a hit streaming franchise into a full theatrical release, following the show’s three successful seasons on Amazon Prime Video.
The film stars the franchise’s original ensemble, including Pankaj Tripathi as Kaleen Bhaiya, Ali Fazal as Guddu Pandit and Divyenndu as Munna Bhaiya, alongside newer additions such as Ravi Kishan.
Analysts expect the film’s momentum to carry into the weekend, aided by the absence of major new theatrical competition in its release window.
The film released in both Hindi and Telugu on September 4, 2026, expanding its reach beyond the franchise’s traditional Hindi-speaking streaming audience.
The film’s opening places it fourth among 2026’s biggest openers, behind Dhurandhar 2 at roughly Rs 99 crore, Toxic at roughly Rs 55 crore and Border 2 at Rs 30 crore.
Trade analyst Taran Adarsh said the response reflected the strength of the Mirzapur franchise’s fan base, noting that loyal viewers had turned up in full strength for the theatrical debut.
The film also benefited from the Janmashtami holiday, which added to footfall on its opening day.
