Workplace health screenings have flagged cardiovascular risk markers in a majority of young Indian employees.

An ekincare report found 58.5% of employees under 35 had at least one flagged marker in 2026.

The report analysed data from 200,000 employees across India.

It used blood pressure, blood glucose and blood lipid measurements.

The findings were released to coincide with World Heart Day.

The report noted that the safer conclusion is that cardiovascular risk has not increased among young employees, rather than that their underlying health has clearly improved.

The report was released to coincide with World Heart Day, observed globally on September 29.

ekincare’s broader research also found that over 33% of Indians show early warning signs of chronic disease.

Many of these individuals appear healthy but carry markers linked to heart disease, obesity or diabetes.

Workplace health screening programmes have become more common among Indian employers in recent years.

Cardiovascular risk markers can often be identified before symptoms appear, through routine blood pressure, glucose and lipid testing.

Lifestyle factors such as diet, physical activity and stress are commonly cited contributors to cardiovascular risk in working-age populations.

World Heart Day is marked annually to raise awareness about cardiovascular disease prevention.

Public health experts have called for greater workplace focus on preventive health screening for younger employees.

Corporate health benefit platforms like ekincare typically partner with employers to offer periodic health check-ups to staff.

Early detection of risk markers is generally considered more cost-effective than treating advanced cardiovascular disease.

India has seen a rise in lifestyle-related health conditions among younger, urban working populations in recent years.
