Large public events need permissions for crowd management, traffic and security arrangements.

Police can refuse permission on grounds such as security or law and order.

Delhi Police refused permission for Diljit Dosanjh’s October 30 concert, according to reports.

The reasons cited include security concerns and the festive season.

The organisers have not announced a new date or venue.

PTI, as cited by ETV Bharat, said the police cited security concerns and the festive season.

Aryan Age attributes the denial to security concerns alone and reports that the show is now postponed.

The concert was first planned for November 1 and was moved to October 30 because of sensitivities around the anniversary of the 1984 anti-Sikh riots, according to Aryan Age.

The show is co-produced and promoted by BookMyShow Live, according to ETV Bharat.

The organisers had not announced a revised date or an alternative venue when the reports were published.

ETV Bharat says it is unclear whether the organisers will seek an alternative arrangement for Delhi.

The reports reviewed carried no response from Diljit Dosanjh or from BookMyShow.

The reports did not give ticket or refund information for the Delhi show.

The reported schedule of the Aura India Tour includes Indore, Ahmedabad, Mumbai, Bengaluru, Lucknow, Chandigarh and Kolkata, according to ETV Bharat.

Diljit Dosanjh spoke on September 24 about a planned performance at Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on November 21, according to the same report.

The effect of the denial on the wider tour schedule has not been announced, according to ETV Bharat.

Large public events in Delhi need permissions from the police and other agencies, including for crowd management, traffic and security arrangements.

A no-objection certificate from the police is a clearance that is usually issued with conditions on timing, security and crowd management.

The police reasons are those stated in the reports and no formal written order was quoted in full in the articles reviewed.
