West Indies were dismissed for 344 on day two of the second Test against Pakistan at Queen’s Park Oval in Port of Spain.

Sajid Khan led the Pakistan attack with figures of 4 for 85, with the remaining wickets shared among three other bowlers.

Justin Greaves top-scored with 73 for West Indies, while Roston Chase made 70 as the hosts built on their overnight total of 239 for 5.

Three wickets fell in the first session of day two, taking West Indies from their overnight score to 323 for 8 before they were all out for 344.

Pakistan’s reply reached 98 for 2 after 20.5 overs, leaving the visitors trailing by 246 runs.

West Indies lead the five-Test series 1-0, having won the series opener by 90 runs at the Brian Lara Cricket Academy in Tarouba.

Pakistan’s top order took the new-ball attack on cautiously in their reply, looking to avoid the kind of batting collapse that cost them the series opener at Tarouba.

Queen’s Park Oval in Port of Spain, one of the oldest Test venues in the Caribbean, has historically offered more assistance to spinners as matches progress, a factor both sides will be weighing as the Test moves into its middle overs.

West Indies had ended the opening day at 239 for 5, with Justin Greaves unbeaten on a composed half-century after early partnerships helped the hosts recover from a slow start.

Pakistan’s bowlers struck three times on the morning of day two, reducing West Indies from their overnight position to 323 for 8 before the innings folded for 344.

West Indies lead the five-Test series 1-0 after winning the series opener by 90 runs at the Brian Lara Cricket Academy in Tarouba, extending Pakistan’s run of away Test defeats.

Sajid Khan’s four-wicket haul was Pakistan’s best bowling return of the innings, with three other Pakistan bowlers sharing the remaining wickets to dismiss West Indies for 344.

India closed the first day of the second Test against Sri Lanka at 300 for 5, on the back of a century from Devdutt Padikkal.

Padikkal scored 117 off 193 balls, his second century in a row, before being dismissed by Keshara Nuwantha shortly before the second new ball.

Captain Shubman Gill added 50 off 108 balls before falling to a loose cut off Prabath Jayasuriya right on the stroke of tea.

Earlier, India had lost both openers cheaply, with KL Rahul out for 18 and Yashasvi Jaiswal for 45, before Gill and Padikkal steadied the innings.

Rishabh Pant retired hurt after being struck on the wrist, while Ravindra Jadeja was bowled late in the day while also managing some discomfort of his own.

At the close, Dhruv Jurel was unbeaten on 7 alongside debutant Saransh Jain on 4, with India well placed heading into day two of the Colombo Test.

Sri Lanka’s Asitha Fernando was the pick of the bowlers with figures of 3 for 46, while Prabath Jayasuriya accounted for both Rahul and Gill.

India go into day two with a 1-0 series lead after their 165-run win in the first Test at Galle, needing a positive result in Colombo to seal the series.

Padikkal’s century, his second in as many Tests, came after he survived being dropped twice early in his innings, on 0 and again on 1.

Gill and Padikkal put on a vital 120-run third-wicket partnership that repaired India’s innings after early setbacks.

Rishabh Pant retired hurt after being struck on the wrist by a short ball from Lahiru Kumara, while Ravindra Jadeja was bowled leaving the ball late in the day while also managing discomfort in his forearm.

At stumps, Dhruv Jurel was unbeaten on 7 and debutant Saransh Jain on 4, with India still needing to bat out the tail on day two.

Captain Shubman Gill, on 23, and Devdutt Padikkal, unbeaten on 18, have steadied the innings following the early loss of both openers.

Yashasvi Jaiswal was dismissed for 45 off 53 balls when an Asitha Fernando delivery curved back in and found an inside edge onto the stumps.

KL Rahul had gone earlier for 18 off 33 balls, edging a short, wide delivery from Lahiru Kumara behind to wicketkeeper Niroshan Dickwella.

Padikkal, who struck a century in the first Test at Galle, survived a couple of early scares before finding his rhythm alongside his captain.

India carry a 1-0 series lead into the match after their 165-run win at Galle, with a positive result in Colombo enough to seal the series.

Debutant off-spinner Saransh Jain, who came in for Kuldeep Yadav, is yet to bat as India’s middle and lower order remain in the pavilion.

The Sinhalese Sports Club Ground in Colombo is hosting the second and final Test of the series, running from August 23 to 27.

Sri Lanka’s playing XI for the Test includes uncapped opener Kamil Mishara, with Dhananjaya de Silva captaining the side in place of the unavailable Dinesh Chandimal.
